DEAF/BLIND INTERPRETING: Is It Just Putting Your Hands in Someone Elses?

Saturday, August 7, 2010
10 am - 12 noon

Sponsored by Kajika Interpreting Services/UtRID
Presented by Stephen Ehrlich
Location: Sanderson Community Center, Classroom B/C
Cost: $5
2 UT CEHs

Objectives: Learn the subtleties of working with the Deaf/Blind. What information do you include? What are your responsibilities as an interpreter? Are you also a guide? Are you an SSP? How do you know what your boundaries are and how those match the needs of your Deaf/Blind client? How do you know when you need a CDI to work with you? This workshop will present basic information to enable you to begin your working relationships with the Deaf/Blind community.

Deaf/Blind himself, Stephen Ehrlich provides first-hand knowledge to answer all of these questions. This workshop is being provided to hearing and Deaf interpreters who need the basics of working with a Deaf/Blind client.
